Kasama-Yaki Exhibition in NY

WAPorter held an exhibition featuring historical Kasama-Yaki ceramists in Manhattan, New York. Over a five-day period, this exhibition attracted over 600 visitors, 60% of which were foreigners. The Japanese craftsmanship on display resounded greatly with foreign attendees. Many members of fine arts circles and gallery-related individuals also visited the exhibition in great numbers, and the deep appreciation they showed toward each individual work marked great signs of future developments to come.

Having overcome the hurdle of exporting pottery, whose materials make it difficult to transport, we at WAPorter plan to continue proactively addressing the export of traditional works of arts by tackling the handling of ceramics next.

At the opening reception of the exhibition, we welcomed approximately 200 attendees, to whom we introduced local sake and chestnut confectionaries from Kasama, appetizers served with locally-produced dressing, and more. Attendees unaccustomed to enjoying such Japanese cuisine in the US asked many related questions and voiced their appreciation.
